Celebrating the Season of Giving Back

The GCB Team Continues its Annual Holiday Tradition

By Staci Remley, Operations Manager

This year, our agency is once again continuing its tradition of giving back to the community we serve in partnership with local nonprofit organization The Macomb Charitable Foundation. Since 2006, when my children participated in the Adopt-A-Family program at their school, I have been personally supporting this charity.  In 2015, Gompers, Cornish & Barr enthusiastically picked up the mantle and has carried on that commitment to this day.

Every year since taking over the annual project as a company, we have been working together to provide a local family in need the holiday season they deserve. This year, the charity’s efforts will result in more than 500 children and 150 local families receiving gifts this year, who otherwise might not. We are happy and proud to report that the GCB family sprang into action and was able to get and deliver everything on the wish list for the family we adopted this year, who has three young children in the home.

Though giving back to our local community is a reward unto itself, it is a letter like the one we received last year that reminds us that we truly are making a difference in the lives of those we work to help:

You can read the whole letter, as well as those from the children in the family, here.

What we share with and like about the Macomb Charitable Foundation is its dedication to the notion that “charity begins at home,” as they say. Their mission statement reads, “...to help children living at or below poverty level in Macomb County. Our goal is to alleviate the suffering of children and their families by providing financial assistance for items such as but not limited to; food, clothing, personal care items, rent/utility assistance, vehicle repair, educational assistance and when available personal & spiritual mentoring.”

From our corporate family to yours, we hope all who are able can join the cause to help support our neighbors in need — during this holiday season of giving back and all year long!
